20,000 Watts Under The Sea

20,000 Watts Under The Sea

A Poem by Richard

I know not a story

told of a man without ears

who reached out without hands

and sobbed without tears

without a name

he could no longer see why

and something was wrong

the sky was true blue

but the stars make bad neighbours

a whale on a stove with a bed made of burner

20,000 watts under the sea

and 2,000 kids to feed

and that too could be, friend of an alcove of an alcove of an islet

and it's for sale

but pockets are deep

and a bike made of rust

rests down in frown gully

and to spend the night mowing dreams with dewdrops

is like butter falling over

under the sun

and from a frown to a frown

listen

wild fungal rabbits rustling bread and butter shrubs

oat crazy horse

built by England

natured by puddle

licking a danish
