i've been sleeping

i've been sleeping

A Poem by Richard

Your smile is the sun of your face

when that comes out I know it's going to be a good day

Your eyes are the stars

they just shine

even when I'm asleep I think about you

I crawl tired through a labyrinth

I see a bat on fire

and I don't know what to do when I hear a voice

soft and strange

telling me to visit the eyewash fountain

for tears and wishes only

to be fast

because my dreams aren't so reliable

and I could lose my legs

or be a midnight train in a valley maze

or left in the dust, without a kiss,

by a desert haze

when I wake up then I have to go

back there if only to finish what I started

I never find the fountain

is it on a stupid mountain?

but that smokey voice returns

and tells me to enter

and I laugh

because I don't know what else to do

and the voice is coming closer

then retreats

I can see a tail..

and since everything's on fire

I take my time

and cry

and the voice is having fun now

telling me to "cry it out"

SO I do

and then the sun appears over a hill

in the pocket of my world

it grins

and I feel better

almost immediately
