My Favorite Dinosaur

My Favorite Dinosaur

A Poem by Richard

My Favorite Dinosaur By J.D Stutters

My favourite dinosaur is Thesaurus

He has no scales

Or teeth or a tail

But when he opens his mouth, to my surprise, he can talk

He has lots to say that I can understand

And he's always there for me - in some form or another

A shapeshifter, a spirit lifter, a drifter I'd say

And when I had no friends

I felt like I could turn to Thesaurus

And he'd find a new way to play

Like 'frolic' 'frisk' 'romp' or 'caper'

But little did I know, he was stuck in his papers

So when I tried to take him out

I dropped him in the mud

He didn't like that

He said … it was a 'mire' disappointment

To be covered in 'sludge'

Dropped in the 'silt'

Treated like 'dirt'

I said I'm sorry, sympathetic, consoling I swear!

He accepted these, but said it hurt …

But he forgave me posthaste

So I wrote him a poem

He showed me how to expand

My mind

And for that

I felt 'indebted' 'obliged' 'beholden'

And when I asked if there were other dinosaurs like him

He thought for a minute, then said 'negative' 'by no means' 'uh uh'

At least none I can find.
