heart train

heart train

A Poem by Richard

sparks fly
as the locomotive picks up speed
racing,

in and out of red blood cells
where prisoners of heartbreak canyon
sing the blues
pounding,
on and on from one canal to the next
sweet canary finds it’s niche
delivering unfinished letters to the lovers in coach class
lovers, who drink from the same soft fountain
who preach young love on the doorsteps of divorcees
fire,
combustion engine devotion
as the track veers left

and the train falls
into the ocean

as if to say goodbye
to it’s first love - the track -
and locomotion,
especially quiet midnite’s
when all those young lovers with more heart than brain
take the heart train
home.

fire, -- love this bit...powerful and cynical, and totally YOU!

This was a great write, emotionally speaking. You had me from the first line. I could feel the speed and the frenzy, and the questioning nature of the writing that led me on my own emotional journey. Matters of the heart...they are written about so very often, and sometimes you stumble across something like this that is so unique. Thank you for that.
