Magic Carpet (See's The World)

Magic Carpet (See's The World)

A Poem by Richard

I flew all around the world on a magic carpet
I saw every bastille, every basilica, half of Hamburg, and the crumbs of Ming Dynasty (That’s China!)
The hot springs of Nagasaki, nearly landing on a Suzuki, back in the cold-d-d-d-d-d of Siberia
I shared a snow-cone with my sweetheart, we laughed for a mile, but when I turned, I realized I was alone on Greek Isles
Dodging the ruins like Alexander The Great, granted, 1500 years earlier, but I was there I felt it, that breeze, that rush!
I swam with the mermaids, I fought for my breath, for the beauty of Koh Tao, took gold in my life..
I picked up a stranger, with a sword and a gun, shaped like a woman, he informed me “For them lonesome nights, lad”
I took a detour in Istanbul, traded my carpet, what a fool! It sank in the red sea, but went up, up, up
I ate an onion in Spain, kissed a swan in Milan, I was pointed and laughed at, so quickly moved on
Even the stars were having a nice time, as day turned to night
I’d seen it all then, my head was light, but I came home crestfallen
