The Dream

The Dream

A Poem by Dara
"

Romantic musing to escape the ‘fray’.

"
We dance to the rhythm of the waves
lapping along the sandy beach,
skin glistening in the moonlight
accompanied only by the lonesome
sound of a foghorn blowing
in the distance.

Beams from the old lighthouse
illuminate the night sky.
Holding you close I can feel
the beating of your heart and I
cling to you like the wet moss
gathering along the rocky shore.

I want this moment to last forever.
You were my safe place, my
shelter as the storms of life
rolled in trying to engulf me with
heartache and tears.

Standing cheek to cheek while
dawn is slowly breaking you kiss me,
drawing me in even tighter.
I gingerly reach for your hand
but am met with only emptiness.

It is then I feel your body start to disappear.
My arms fall suddenly to my sides and
I watch as you slowly fade away
into the ghostly mist rising
from the sea.

Dear Dara... your words are perfectly chosen for this nostalgic piece, a heartfelt dream that shines your love for one another...and how quickly it can disappear...yet memories are still there...the mood with the lighthouse the moss, the shore, the mist lingers on....lovely

Thank you, it was one of those dreams you want to last forever…
That was such a dream indeed. You invoke the beloved in dreams and visions as the waves are lapping at your shore and the moon is standing guard. Lovely poem!

It is not so far fetched to believe that our loved ones can give us signs form beyond that they are still with us in some capacity, at the most opportune time. I believe it to be so, and hope it warms your heart with possibility!

A heartbreak of a poem. Speaks to me of a beloved gone. How they are missed. Beautiful imagery conveyed here in this beach scene. The agony of grief when we lose our dearest is hard to bear. A beautiful write dear Dara. Wonderful write.

Dara, this is beautifully written poem that talks of the love, the warmth, the companionship the person brought to the life. it starts of so romantically but at the end only to realize the person is not with you anymore. this is haunting and sad but atleast i hope their memories will keep the light of love illuminated forever and bring warmth to you always. thanks for sharing this delicate, sensitive and a lovely poem.
