Sometimes

Just a thought as I face the new year with trepidation.

Sometimes I want to fly away,
to escape all the toil and strife.
Leave this troubled world behind
and start a brand new life.

But then your smiling face appears,
handsome and so wise
and all my troubles melt away
with a glimpse of Heaven in your eyes.

Hello my friend! I recently came across a term that is familiar but used in a slightly different context. A ‘glimmer’ is a pleasant memory or moment we can hold onto to think about on days that aren’t so good. It seems you are already doing this. That’s wonderful! I hope you are doing well. :-)

I think the cafe for many is that escape, their place to run to. We, those of us that write, are fortunate that we have the ability(used lightly)to get our feelings, fears out and onto paper.

Yes, most definitely, writing can be a wonderful escape. What I also love is the sharing of ‘like’ minds. Although we rarely, if ever, meet in person, I feel a special connection with many of you. Poetry shared is knowing someone on a deeper level.

i understand very strongly the feeling of wanting to run away. and i have no such person anchoring me to where i am. i am like a free brid, no home, only thinking about which direction to fly. it doesn't matter, i really want to just get away. in a way, i envy you for having someone to keep you grounded. the love you have for this person, and how this helps you overcome trials is evident in this short piece.
