A Poem by Dara
"

This poem was written about one of my Special Ed students. He was graduating that year and I was sad to have to “let him go”.

"
What would we do
were you not around?
Smiling that smile,
acting the clown.

You are everybody's "baby"
and it's plain to see
you were sent from Heaven
to rescue me.

There's so much beauty
in the way you look at life,
unaware of the danger,
toil, and strife.

You're a child of nature,
innocent and pure.
sometimes silly,
sometimes demure.

I couldn't last a day
without your hug or
hold that hand that
you like to tug.

If I were a Queen
you'd be my Little Prince.
We'd storm the castle
and then start to dance.

The minstrel would play
a silly tune and
you would prance
around the room.

I love you more than
you'll ever know
but now it's time
to let you go.

Oh, this is so touching, Dara. Teachers do fall in love with students....especially ones that are neurologically diverse. They have endearing qualities and are so innocent. Your rhyming tribute to your special student is so sweet. Happy Holidays to you Dara. Lydi**

This is so sweet...special needs kids are really quite special. I have an autistic niece and it is always so heartwarming to see her smile....she is in her own little world most of the time, but most of the time, it is a happy world.
