Left Behind

Left Behind

A Poem by Dara
"

My son’s mother-in-law has only hours to live. Writing about her helps relieve some of the pain of losing her. ‘Sister Moon’ is in reference to the poem I once wrote about her.

"
Left behind in the wake
Of your exuberant personality
Leaving me the only living
Grandparent around…

I grieve for the loss of
Your presence
I grieve for the children
And grandchildren who
Will daily mourn you
who will cry out
And keep asking ‘Why?’

My shoulders cannot bear
The weight of trying to
Fill the void your passing
Will create and yet I
Must try.

Dear ‘Sister Moon’
You are gone too soon
But Heaven will be
A better place
With you in it.

A beautiful tribute to.a loved one; calling her more exuberant, leaving a void in my world…..filling her void will be difficult….she will grieve, a great weight on her shoulders….”heaven will be a better place with you in it”
A stunning farewell to your sister….
Warmly

Thank you Dara!
Heartfelt and so moving. Losing your loved ones is unimaginable and hard void to fill it. Memories and words live on and so does she in these thoughts of yours in this wonderfully delicately written heart filled poem. Thanks for writing and sharing, Dara!

You're welcome. I always enjoy reading you.
Loss or the prospect of losing a loved one hurts when you wake, when you try to sleep and, in between. We all know how cruel life can be when it comes to death in a family or close circle. How brave to write these words, how inspiring to know 'Sister Moon' will be more than a precious thought for as long as stars shine. Beautifully sad, Dara

Have a Happy Easter!
During such times, (it happens too often as we age) one can do little else but think thoughts like these. She leaves a void, an empty chair, a laugh no longer heard and so much more. Is it fair? Although a burden has been added to you, I imagine you've done what's necessary. Sensitive and well expressed, this is.
