A very poignant poem, of which many of us can identify; vivid images pop out and the content is so appropriate now. All we can do is hope this "plague" vanishes soon ,so we can see our older loved ones before they pass. Lovely poem!

The pain of separation adding to it is almost unbearable. Too many dying, suffering and the people on the frontlines baring the brunt of it. Thank you for your kind words. I hope you stay safe as well.
This is one of the top poems I've read under the huge umbrella of "virus-related" writes! I love that you show a palpable slice of real life, rather than a grumbling commentary about generalities. This is the kind of glimpse into "being human" that makes all the other meaningless noise dissipate for a few moments, as we ponder how hard this situation would be for anyone! This is a precious share of honesty & depth of feeling! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Unfortunately there will probably be no one who comes away from this crisis without being affected by it personally. We can only pray that it will end sooner than later. Be safe!
Very sad poem. It's hard to be separated from those you love. I've separated from my country at my own will and abandoned my mother. I haven't seen her in years and I don't know if she's living or not.

To watch our young one’s leave the nest, no matter the distance, is terribly hard to do. Even more tragic when circumstances make you feel forced to leave but your love ones feel compelled to stay. Thank you so much for sharing your story with me.
It certainly is tough for all those in this current situation.. I think back to when my own mother was still alive and suffered Cancer she passed away I n 2009 after a 10 year battle..at the age of only 58 years .. I’m glad she isn’t living through this nightmare we are facing today .. it is most certainly is the most difficult of times.
I do hope our scientist find a
suitable cure soon and it’s not too long until we can get back to normality.
Kind regards.. stay safe

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, hopefully something will be found soon to end this awful wave of sickness and death. These are certainly the worst of times and the best of times as people are trying to support one another. Take care as well and thank you again for taking the time to read my poem and comment.

Yes, we as a nation have weathered many a storm and the way people are coming together for the common good is very heartening! I pray you stay safe and healthy as well. As for my mom, she is a tough Norwegian and has that on her side. :-) hugs!!
Dara, this is among the most tragic consequences of the crisis. All the nursing homes here are operating under the same quarantine. They don't even leave their rooms. And, since most are unable to use or unfamiliar with social media and the internet, they cannot connect with the outside world like the younger generations.
This is a heartbreaking poem but so well crafted. This might be a morning and evening prayer, especially the last two stanzas. Prayers for your mother and all others kept from loved ones and friends.

It is so sad that many of them, like my mother, may leave us without a proper good bye. Some homes are making exceptions for end of life situations but I had hoped to spend quality time with her before then. Yes, this will be my prayer morning and night. Let us all pray that this ‘storm’ passes sooner than later. Take care and stay safe!
This is the only way we remain attached in these miserable times. Through the bond of love, reflecting what parents have been doing ever since life began-doing what is good for the other. Even if it means staying in isolation. And that is what your poem made me feel. May God help us in these difficult times and give us the power and strength to cope with the situation. May God keep your mother strong and may you meet her soon.

Isolation is the only means now by which she has a chance to live long enough for us to be reunited. Many many thanks for your kind words. May you stay safe through it all!
