I wrote this after going home to visit family and friends. Nostalgia hits hard as we get older. I was able to capture this photo of the sunrise on my first day back on the road.

Past experiences often make good use of our time. Our thoughts are in a good and safe place which prohibit us from negative thinking. One sight of something can trigger a memory that takes us back to a good time.
I liked this, Dara. Nice writing.

It seems I have been doing a lot of that lately and you are so right, it does help stave off the negative thinking and prevents all the 'shoulda, woulda, coulda's'. Great to see you here.
A poem of thanks. Your final stanza tells me you are grateful for the life you have led so far, for its joys and despite the trials and tribulations you have overcome. You are still looking forward to new experiences. I enjoyed what you conveyed and the way you expressed those thoughts. Nicely done.

Thank you for your kind words. It was so nice of you to take the time to read my poem.
' ..I am savoring ~ childhood memories with a heart ~ full of love and appreciation, ~ bittersweet and overwhelming.'
Seems that whatever your road, Dara, you've coped with the negatives and ridden free and hopeful, ready to stop, pause, feel peace and joy - when you arrrive to that precious place you feel at home. This could be an open prayer, complete with hands held high. Beautifully created. .. beautiful picture

Yes, there have been a few bumps and even some potholes along the way but through it all I have been blessed with much love of family and friends. And now there is poetry where I can write it down to be filed away in my "book of memories". So nice to see you as always!
this is one beautiful poem with deep meaning and clarity of words

A lovely trip, it appears, and made better by the rising sun and morning's sweet air. There's poignancy, but also a sense of beauty and fulfillment.
