He Is Not Here

He Is Not Here

A Poem by Dara

Where did you go my sweet soulful friend,

I miss your presence must this friendship end?

The silence echoes in my ears

and a quiet voice whispers

“He is not here.”

Were you a figment of my imagination,

a dream or a fleeting thought?

Fueled by yearning and compassion

providing the comfort

I had sought.

You may be absent but ne'er forgotten

and  please remember this,

 your kindness I deeply treasured

basking in moments of

 poetic bliss.

what a fine tribute to those who have affected us here at the Cafe .. when i realize i have not heard from a friend for a while i visit the profile only to find it closed ..some with a parting note of generalizing .. mostly simply closed ... i keep them as friends thinking they may come back ..sigh!!! easy flow and rhyme in this emotive (for me) poem ... glad i found it!

Sometimes, memory is not such a blessing; but then, without memory, life would be simply counting by numbers.

A lovely poem that reminds us how fortunate we are to have been granted such a gift.

Such gentle words, such fragile feelings.. written so well, so honestly. There are people who come and go , their prints quickly washed away. But.. there are that special few, maybe but one, who kindly scar the heart and mind forever. Those are the ones of whom you one day say, 'You and I were US', bu tfor some reason you're gone, but i'll always feel and think of you. You say as much and so beautifully, Dara.

Very relatable. .. and you put the question out there so gracefully one wonders why drift apart. Somewhat melancholy but beautifully written.
