The Poetry Man

The Poetry Man

A Poem by Dara
"

Inspired by the song by Phoebe Snow.

"

You write of angst and ecstasy

where lovers meet

in fantasy.

Your sensual words entice me

with sultry prose

seducing me.

On wings of love you take me

where souls unite

eternally.

Should the whole world crumble
yet will I stand

for my heart clings to

the poetry man.

I've always loved that song. Yes, the poetry man makes things all right...and your poem does the song justice, Dara. Lydi**

The world will crumble, and you will stand, and you will cling to your good man.
Well-written and well-formatted, dear Dara.

~It's amazing how we can often be so entranced in a song that its intended meaning slips by unnoticed. At least, that's what happened to me until I found out the true meaning of the metaphors and the fact that it's about an affair. (duh) haha She will be missed. Great poem. ~

I'd forgotten about this great Phoebe Snow song, and kept thinking "Guitar Man" by, I think--David Gates. As always, your writing is wonderful.
