Love in the Golden Years

Love in the Golden Years

A Poem by Dara

Looking at you through the eyes of love

still beautiful beyond  measure

I catch a glimpse of your warm sweet smile

and those lips that I so treasure.

Your silver hair once golden, a crown of for all to see

those tender words unspoken, a testament to me.

Though time and aging have slowed us down

and our bodies are getting weaker

my love for you keeps going strong

the moments we share much sweeter.

For in my heart I know that soon

our time together must end

and one of us must still go on

savoring memories of

a lost best friend.

67 anniversaries...incredible.
There is nothing in my life which even comes close to such a number, except the sum of the rejection letters I've received. Congratulations to your parents, dear Dara, and thank you for sharing this tender poem.
