I Thought of You Today

I Thought of You Today

A Poem by Dara

You have been on my mind lately

I just thought you should know.

When the love you find doesn’t leave your mind

it only tends to grow.

There were no claps of thunder

no bells in the steeple clanging.

I just saw your face in the empty place

where your picture had been hanging.

I loved you then and I love you now.

I miss you every day.

I wish you could and hope you would

Think of me, too, somehow that way.

Love is gentle and love is kind.

It can make you feel so good.

And it can fade away like shades of gray

But true love never should.

I really liked this Dara. I loved the gentleness of it and the lilting nature of it. I could see this being sang in any snug in a pub with the people present 'shushing' and saying 'please... a wee bit of order..." - getting the place so quiet you could hear a pin drop - just the lilting voice carrying these words to all.

Seems you're in a music-loving mood, and that's a good place to be. There are many good lines here, but my favorite is "empty place where your picture had been hanging". Maybe because it makes me think of my late brother.

Hi Dora :) This is painfully beautiful. It's always a struggle to be alone. Even more so after you weren't for a wile. Your heart depends on that soul it loved and doesn't know what to do without it.

You've given me cause to remember my grandmother, Dara. Her husband died when she was 54. She died at the age of 92, and never remarried. It makes you wonder...perhaps love never dies within the hollow of a heart.

Such a personal and loving message...one we can each draw something from! Thank you!
