Today I Heard Birds Singing

Today I Heard Birds Singing

A Poem by Dara

Today  I heard the birds sing

and the sun shone on my face.

Dark clouds of sadness lifted

and a rainbow took

their place.

I felt the wind caress my cheek

and smelled lilacs in the air.

My feet were light as a feather

my thoughts drifting

everywhere.

Today I heard the

birds sing.

Thank you Woody! It does my heart good to know my poem had that effect on you.
Lovely, so lovely. When birds sing, there has to be hope. Just yesterday, the baby robins hopped from their nest in my back yard and joined the feathery choir.

Yes you are so right Samuel! I especially love the babies. :-)
There is something about waking to the first sounds of spring on the songs of birds... I love the swapping of cloud for rainbow and felt light footed myself as I read your drifting thoughts.

Agreed... it's hard to feel down this time of year!!
dear Dara... this evening, I read a poem,
Sweet as a primrose, light as a feather...
I rose like a bird toward Heaven-- I heard
a bird sing, and the fragrance of lilacs
drifted into my soul. Beautiful poetry.
