As Your Day Ends

The thoughts that go through the mind when loving from a great distance.

As I greet the morning

I think of you and then

remember as I start my day

yours is at an end.

I look outside my window

and see sunshine all around

while you lay quietly on your bed

and gaze upon the moon.

I keep my love light glowing

in hopes you’ll always find

a deep connection of the heart

and of the soul and mind.

But how can I hold you

planting kisses all around

then let you take me to your bed

or lay me on the ground,

to cover me with your body

and caress me with your hands

make love all night ‘til morning light

from our two distant lands?

hi Dara. Oh how the longing seeps through your words. I hear the teardrops dripping from the lines and there is a hauntedness that flows with the poem that quite catches the reader's breath. Lovely, and a joy to read, alf

It gets even sadder. The poem is about my Aussie mate who I had a connection with for almost three years. He died about a week ago before we had a chance to meet in person. Thank you so much for your beautiful review. He will live on through my poetry.
