For You

For You

A Poem by Dara

For you I would gather up at night

the sun, the moon, and stars

and have them dance like fireflies

captured in a jar.

For you I would paint the biggest rainbow,

it’s colors brilliant and bold,

to make sure all your dreams come true

with your own pot of gold.

For you I would light up the city

so you could drink it in,

and see it shining brightly

from the Sydney Harbor again.

For you I would swim the deepest ocean

and climb the highest hill.

If I get to be one hundred

I will love you still.

you are kindly welcome, Dara... :)
This is terrific. I'm tempted to say it's about your hubby, but then realize it could be in reference to children, grandchildren, etc. If you're like me, you're at a place in life where giving to others takes precedence over self.

Dara, it seems we are both in that same frame of mind, today. I posted something for a friend who lost his son a little over a year ago.

If only a hundred years would be enough to continue loving them...perhaps we should bargain for 100 years, plus a day!

My best,
Kelly

This is beautiful. I can really feel the love the narrator feels for the person that it's written for. Some poems seem forced or really trying hard to grasp meaning but this flows smoothly with a gentle grace. Very nice work!
