this gave me shivers...such a beautiful description of how strongly you feel for another...it could be for a child, a sibling, a lover...i really enjoyed the entire poem but that first stanza is just so spellbinding...bravo, my friend...i am so happy to have taken this trip back through your archives :)

This is terrific. I'm tempted to say it's about your hubby, but then realize it could be in reference to children, grandchildren, etc. If you're like me, you're at a place in life where giving to others takes precedence over self.

I actually wrote this first for my son and his wife but then changed the wording for my friend who died last week. He was Australian and that is where the "Sydney Harbor" comes in. Dara, it seems we are both in that same frame of mind, today. I posted something for a friend who lost his son a little over a year ago.
If only a hundred years would be enough to continue loving them...perhaps we should bargain for 100 years, plus a day!

This is beautiful. I can really feel the love the narrator feels for the person that it's written for. Some poems seem forced or really trying hard to grasp meaning but this flows smoothly with a gentle grace. Very nice work!
