Your Gypsy Soul

Your Gypsy Soul

A Poem by Dara

Southern lady, country raised

helping people with their problems.

Attended school, played by the rules

and now work hard to solve them.

But somewhere deep inside you

burns the desire to live wild and free.

No chains or ropes to bind you

dancing ‘midst stealth  company.

Gold earrings dangling, silk scarves flowing

skirts hiked up to your knee.

Brown eyes reflecting the campfire burning,

fortunes you would tell so secretly.

Healer of those who would come to you pining

looking for words of comfort you’d dole.

You provide the medicine they need

mesmerized by your sweet gypsy soul.

What a great metaphor of a social worker! Hats off to your daughter. She must be a hard worker living in the ultra conservative south. And you've penned a beautiful picture as always. This was a delightful read .

high praises for your daughter in law ... the contrast between the "Southern Lady" and the Gypsy Soul" is crystal clear ... being the incurable romantic i love the image i keep of gypsies ..wild hearts ..dancing and enchanting ... forgive me for prying but is she gypsy by heart or heritage? just curious ... not that it matters ... she sounds like a marvelous person who is in the right job!! pretty spectacular in itself these days ..

The imagery in this one is spectacular. I could see her next to the campfire...wild and free. Eclectic rhyme scheme. I liked it. Lydi**
