Ciao Bella

Running through fields of gold

long hair whipping

in the breeze.

 

Standing at the water’s edge

waves lapping

at their feet.

 

Ciao Bella  Ciao Bella

The wind whispers

her name.

 

 They while away the hours

their souls one and

 the same.

Seldom, words so softly sing unto the wispy soundings of my soul with such poignant, beautiful sensations at the same time, but there's no denying that in this gently luring piece, you've tugged my heart in-two … leaving me haunted both, by hello and goodbye.
You've bade me yearn for the presence of every dog I've every loved and shared life with.

I'm not sure if a grown man's supposed to cry over mere emotionally embracing words and a deeply moving picture, Lady Dara … but it's too late to wonder, now! ⁓ Richard 🍃

Dear Lydia, this poem popped up from the archives and I noticed my reply to your wonderful review did not post. Looking back I thought for sure it had but it must have been one of those ‘senior moments’ I have been having. I hope you are doing well in spite of the pandemic. Thank you for doing the picture justice. The dog's a Boarder Collie sheep dog and it rounds the children up every night before dark and ushers them home. Beautiful poem.

The photo is a classic and the image of both dog and girl embellish the word "bella" or 'beautiful". Putting it to words was such a pleasure.
