For Today I'll Dream

A poem to describe those, who think that they are better off in their dream worlds.

For Today I’ll Dream

Today I’ll Dream,

Today, I’ll be swimming in my world full of fantasies,

In my world full of ‘What If’s and ‘Could Have Been’s,

For today, I’ll dream;

 

Today I wonder what might have happened,

Today I wish you were here to see,

Today I fall and beg on my knees,

Oh, Daddy, please forgive me for all my sins;

 

Today I know you regret your decision,

Today I know you cry tears of grief,

Today you hope for a second chance,

But boy, I think it’s too late for you to come and save me;

 

Today I don’t have a friend in the world,

Today I know it’s my entire fault,

Today I wish I could have changed,

Everything, my friend, that I have done wrong;

 

For today, I’ll dream,

For today, I’ll live,

Because tomorrow I’ll have to wake up and face the reality,

The nightmare that my life became.

Don't ask me why all my poems end with the word 'NIGHTMARE', cause even I don't know the answer :S

This is touching for me especially because I tend to let my mind wander and look for and escape from reality. Its also describes the helplessness and pain we feel at some points in our lives.

I got a lot from this poem. It reminded me of my childhood and my constant escapes from reality. Can't help thinking that even those who think they aren't dreaming are still probably escaping in some other way. e.g. work, addictions, etc. Thanks a thought provoking write.
