The Crown Slips

The Crown Slips

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Neflix have a responsibility to the living and the dead.

"

There is a “depth of concern”

at the very top of the Royal Family.

A prince and duchess in unflattering light,

scenes invented for entertainment

no labels attached.

Netflix, flexing its muscle,

trolling on a Hollywood budget.

Real lives, royal ones at that,

hijacked and exploited,

without a thought for human feelings.

Is it right or fair,

when the things being depicted

don't represent truth?

No sense of the carefully nuanced story,

the public shouldn't be fooled

in such a cavalier fashion,

history should not be bastardised

so blatantly.

Such disrespect for the living

has no place in the arts.

Haven't watched the latest series John, so can't comment. However, I don't approve of scenes being invented and portrayed as fact. Unpleasant and won't do anything to remove the frostiness that is currently within that family towards some of its members. Well penned and topical. Good morning. I might just have to find time to switch it on and see for myself.
