Looking at The Ocean

Looking at The Ocean

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Sometimes others decide our fate for us!

"

In my dream

I try to run on sand

but sink waist deep.

I look far out to sea

and know I am stuck fast

in life's mire.

But there is little

to be done

to ease this burden

and I know my fate

is to die,

right here inside myself

as each step I take

is not my own,

but in the tracks of others.

This year sure has been decision time for everyone, or not as the case may be.
I think we all would like to choose our own journey, but sometimes the journey is just stopped in its tracks.

Hard to find solid ground sometimes John. The quicksand can steal our hope and dreams away. I felt the struggle in the words. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry and your thoughts.

You are welcome my friend.
without hope life can become pointless ... and how humbling to think all we hold as "original" most surely has been trod before ... love that pic .. there is sobering truths in this little gem says i .. inspires me to dig deeper rather than despair ;)

This poem brings to mind another song:

This is the only Ke$ha song I like, by the way. Maybe there's more out there she's released more recently, but I can't stand most of them. There was another song I liked the message behind, but her singing grates on my ears, so I went hunting for a cover of that one. This one, for some reason, works with her style of singing in my book.
