We Flat Earthers!

We Flat Earthers!

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Our understanding of everything is so primitive. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/other/why-merger-of-black-holes-should-have-been-impossible/ar-BB18RNjk?ocid=msedgntp

"

We may as well sail

a hollowed out boat to Mars

as understand stars!

Nice Senryu, John 川柳

It is amazing what all can be expressed by a skilled poet, in so few words.
Basho would be proud of you. : )
Looking back, we've come so very-very far … yet, the more we discover, the higher we climb and the farther ahead we're able to see, and how minuscule our knowledge and understanding truly is. This is true of levels of consciousness and science … as-well, all else.
Particularly creative, is the way you've used the primitive "hallowed out boat" analogy to express just how little we know when gazing out upon the stars (the inconceivably infinite, mysterious immensity of humans, earth, and all that lies beyond).

A super title, beautiful yin/YANG artwork, and brilliant choice of music.
Thank you, my wise and very talented Friend! ⁓ Richard 🍃

I think we've come a long way, we can cure we can kill fly to the moon.
In a hundred years, who knows.
Well, that's assuming we're still here.

Ah but what we believe is as crude as back then when we debated the flat earth Paul. Many thanks.

I'm sure there's still a flat earth society kicking around.
A novel idea here, McF. It's OK as long as we can sail. Rowing beyond the stratosphere, though, is, so I hear, one b***h.

Our knowledge is miniscule in the overall picture of things. We are constantly learning through science. Your Haiku sums the scale of that understanding well.

Morning Chris. Indeed we are miniscule in our effort and our knowledge. Many thanks.

Good morning John. Have a good day.
Sometimes I marvel at our smugness. Its even more marvellous that we have achieved what we have with our attitude. If there is a higher power, it must be quite scornful of us.

You are welcome :)
I love the image of the hollow out boat. We don’t know everything as we are always evolving so what we understand today may change tomorrow as we are constantly learning. The only thing ever certain is uncertainty. We know enough to know we don’t know much at all. Always more questions than answers. Enjoyed this though provoking piece.

Spot on and many thanks Lady Sue.
you gave me quite an image in my head here, John.
I am picturing a boat in space...one propelled by oars.
God, it's a long way to Mars...my arms are tired from rowing.

Yes that is what I envisaged when thinking about our real achievements Jacob. Many thanks.
As humans, we don't posses but that tunnel vision, wrongful theories that have been changed by science. All our knowledge is probably a drop in the bucket. Knowledge is powerful indeed but we have to be humble and live honestly with our selves knowing our value and place under the sun. Marvelous sir.

Many welcomes. Good to know sir.
I like the hollowed-out boat thingy
A west coast Haida tradition with some fine examples all carved out of a single log
Don't think any have yet made it to Mars
I'll leave the deeper thinking 2U and Margie

You've hit on one of my gripes about the superiority complex of the human race. We are so self-congratulatory about how much we know, but rarely are we honest about how much we don't know. I love the idea that there's so much out there that cannot be explained, but most people want certainty at all costs (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
