Sol Ecstasy

Sol Ecstasy

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Just love summer sun!

"

Summer sun

a welcome joy

to be savoured

to the max,

as it will not

last.

So I squeeze each

and every ray

from that juicy

orange orb,

letting them dwell

and play across

my skin,

feeling that

sweet warmth

stroking me

like a lover.

I surrender myself

fully

and utterly

to the heat

of these moments,

breathing in the

warm breeze

and allowing

the corona's caress

to have its

wicked way.

I fall

thankfully,

gratefully,

into the spell

and slip

from quiet

contemplation

under that balmy blanket,

into a deep

and peace filled sleep.

This is a lively description of what a turn-on, the sun on the skin! Your excitement is bubbling in words! Most summers, it's too hot here to enjoy direct sun (43*C for 2 months) . . . but we're having a very mild summer & I love being out in the sun even afternoons (32*-ish). You use a ton of original ideas to fill in this poem with popping details (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

when I was a kid my family would spend the day at the lake, fish a little, swim a little, picnic as we listened to the baseball game, then my dad would take a nap in the shade while we played cards, until we could swim again, nothing better.

good write - packs a soothing punch. i love to sit at the edge of the water like the guy in your pic. you've reminded me of how i must make time to get to the beach and experience what you so eloquently describe. we are currently in the throws of scorching summer heat. no excuse - the shore is closeby. thanks for the reminder of what i'm missing. good stuff ... :)

your poem made me wipe my forehead several times with my kerchief..just to wipe the sweat away...

Almost as bad as the actual sun...

I love the days of Summer and you are welcome John.
You certainly convey the warmth of the sun well. We do have to soak it up in the UK because we get so little of it. This is a very descriptive write and I enjoyed the imagery. The sun is just so uplifting. Great free verse.
