Still Seeking

Still Seeking

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Darwin says we will forever seek.

"

Constantly looking

past the face

and beyond,

hoping

something else

will come along.

Something better,

more fulfilling, more exciting,

younger perhaps,

sexier, more independent

and definitely

sexually liberated.

Restless for the chase,

for the big game hunt

to continue.

Locking stares

grasping at glances,

ready to leave half

gnawed carcasses

to rot

in favour

of fresh meat.

Perhaps there will

be a feast

of warmer flesh

or simply

only starvation

in the parched

wilderness

to show

for all

the trouble.

Here in the USA. Always wanting more. Greed steal our vision to see what we truly need. I liked the want of the poem and the honest ending. A poem for thought. Allow the reader to ponder their needs. Thank you John for sharing the amazing poetry.

Thank you Coyote John for a well considered review.
this reminds me of how many of us were in our youth, although some carry it with them through adulthood....love the chase...the challenge...but then once we have found that person loves us back...we win...then we get bored and decide we need the next challenge, leaving dead, bleeding hearts to be ravaged by the scavengers.

Yes I think that can be the case Jacob but not surprising if you are a Darwinist. Many thanks.
Strong metaphor here John. A bit more Darwin today. You certainly have him on your mind. Good luck with your hunting. Those half gnawed carcasses weren't a pretty sight. Good free verse read that I'm sure some will relate to.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
