Eye of The Devil Woman

Eye of The Devil Woman

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Portrait: Devil Woman by Sylvia Flower

"

She arrives soft in the dark cloak of night

after the sun and its angels take flight,

stands silently at the foot of my bed,

mournful dark eyes playing games in my head.

And she knows what it is that she must do

and she decides what she must put me through,

indeed it was Satan who gave her this task,

why I have fallen so far I daren't ask.

So I accept this sad end without mirth

it is a journey I've travelled since birth

and I accept that for me it's too late,

for the devil has determined my fate.

So as I'm called to account for my sins

I acquiesce and then simply give in.

Sounds like a Black Sabbath song, similar lyrical vibe, "evil woman, don't you play your games on me," a fatalistic master piece, turn up the volume

I sort of recall it but was never into Black Sabbath. Will give it a listen. Cheers Shaz.
The first stanza is so incredible, and all the rest, the measure and rhyming is so good that i liked the sound of it as read the whole poem to myself (i have that habit) Your imagery is uniquely hidden in those simple words. i envy your style.

I did like the above lines. I prefer the women with the fire in their voice, their voice and their eyes. Thank you John for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Beware the woman in red and by all means keep her from your bed, nor let her in your head.

sorry about the rhyme :)

Ah I escaped his thumb and his wayward c**k lol Science has my vote. Thanks Gram.
John, As you probably know, I don't believe Satan determines our fate . . . it's never too late as long as we draw a breath. But this is an interesting poem, an honest exploration of the reckoning we all must face. Actually I preferred Santana's "Witchy Woman." Oh, to each their own (oops, another song title enters!) Thanks for listening my friend.

You are most welcome
Great song, one of cliff’s best I think, and as for the poem maybe fate plays a part in meeting the devil woman in question. Well written as per john’s norm.
