Trust and Honour

Trust and Honour

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

A fact

"

Some people just cannot

tell the difference

between fact and fiction,

love and hate,

honour and dishonour;

some simply do not care.

They twist the truth

and use the innocent

as a cloak, a smokescreen

to defend their back

while plunging their rusty dirk

deep into the hearts

of honest folk.

This poem reminds me a lot of a moment recently where I've supported someone close who is honest and being targeted for their openness and friendliness. The good qualities they have. This poem articulates the situation well. You have expressed this in clearly, so thank you. Welldone

Many thanks Sir.
Goodness John. Great poem and one for these times. Why do we let these people rule us. I sometimes think we are made with some fatal flaw but then you see great people who restore your faith.
All the best.

The more I read and learn new things. The more truth these words hold. There is a thin line and the line seems to be getting thinner.

there is definitely a blurred area that some cannot quite get clear in their own eyes, mind and heart.
Each individual has to come to terms and accept as truth or not...
But the unsuspecting surely become innocent victims much too often.
God I hated that song, Mack the Knife...Love Bobby's "Dream Lover" as one of my all time favorites...

In every walk of life, you will find a villain. I agree with your assessment but there's nothing you can do to change what is. The innocent must learn on their own and they must learn the hard way.

Time make sad stories less painful and good stories much better. I believe we can twist things-up sometimes. Some people can never see the truth. Nice flow of thoughts, made the reader think and ponder John.
