Breathless

What is this thing that grips me so?

Breathless

Jagged breaths,

catch in my throat,

like swallowing

ice frosted air

on a cold morn,

and make me gasp

each time I see your name,

your words,

your poetry.

Each time I think,

dare to imagine

your smile,

your laugh,

your scent,

the feel of your

soft skin,

lips pressed

by mine,

I melt.

I lose all reason,

sense becomes nonsense,

nothing rational

seems rational.

I am consumed

by dreams,

by meandering

what ifs

that fill me full

of bliss,

till I could simply

float off

in a warm,

drug induced

euphoric state,

of pure unadulterated,

uncut, ecstasy.

kind of drug that does takes us to euphoric state
