Breathless

Breathless

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

What is this thing that grips me so?

"

Breathless

Jagged breaths,

catch in my throat,

like swallowing

ice frosted air

on a cold morn,

and make me gasp

each time I see your name,

your words,

your poetry.

Each time I think,

dare to imagine

your smile,

your laugh,

your scent,

the feel of your

soft skin,

lips pressed

by mine,

I melt.

I lose all reason,

sense becomes nonsense,

nothing rational

seems rational.

I am consumed

by dreams,

by meandering

what ifs

that fill me full

of bliss,

till I could simply

float off

in a warm,

drug induced

euphoric state,

of pure unadulterated,

uncut, ecstasy.

danger danger danger my friend ;) i am so sorry for your protagonist ..poor poor boy ... artists should never fall in love ... here is the big red flag says i "I lose all reason," i hope your speaker has a really good "heap" pick-up service ;) yeah...this can not end well :((

This has your flair all over it. Sharp imagery that cuts to the point. Fast and furious images of the heart frozen out by her existence. Nice work my friend. I always have fun reading your work.

Ah Ron, that would be telling. I guess poetry can be simply a dream or an amalgamation of experience.. read more

:) guess love is a maddening state...we stop thinking and just act on it..

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
