I sleep, I dream, I die!

I sleep, I dream, I die!

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Breathless...............................................

"

I sleep, I dream, I die!

I cannot breathe,

I cannot rest nor sleep.

I dare not blink

lest this waking dream,

this bright pool

of tender love

is rippled

by careless stones.

wow! such a great amount of creative tension built in just 8 lines and a contrasting title ... the edge we sometimes hold love in fearful trepidation ... a place of horror .. almost better to fall one way or the other to relieve the anxiety ;) well done sir! powerful poem says i!

a fragile thing is love - like glass or a pond's calm surface - even a tiny fly can ruin this delicate ointment - but does such frangible love have a chance?
Thank you for the RR John

Just that Ron, just incase you ripple the surface. Many thanks.
There will always be "stones," and true love will always prevail. :-)

Ah spoken like a teacher Susan. many thank yous!
A poem on the transience of that 'bright pool of tender love', or rather, the fear of it going away, or being destroyed by carelessness. But, please 'dare to blink', because, if it is a true waking dream, you will dream it again! Lovely poem to wake up to, on a Sunday morning!

sometimes we get that feeling that is so overwhelming and exciting that we are afraid it isn't real...only a dream...and we do not want to wake up from it...hard to get back to that same dream.

Indeed until that dream is real Jacob. Many thanks.
The words short, honest and true. Carelessness done become permanent regret. Thank you John for sharing the amazing poetry.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
