![]() In the DarkA Poem by John Alexander McFadyen![]() An inner self is sometimes destructive.![]() In
the Dark The black raven has returned; descended from a blue sky to cowl over my corpse and pick at the fantasy world into which I withdraw when reality haunts me. Pecking at my guilt and opening wounds so that raw flesh and nerve endings are exposed. Exposed, there's the thing, my inner world, my deepest darkest thoughts laid bare. So now I must shoo the bird from my garden and dig. Dig well and furiously to re-intern these entrails. But I know that crow will come again, all too soon.
