The Blight of Unrequited Love

The Blight of Unrequited Love

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Mortal wounds endure.

"

The Blight of Unrequited Love

Unplanned,

atoms collide.

Massive energy is released

as eyes meet

in unification.

Like nuclear fall-out,

particles rain down upon me unseen,

passing into my blood

and devilishly destroying

each and every cell

in my heart.

Until I am weak and sick,

dependent, breathless

confused and consumed.

The winter of my discontent

is filled to the brim

with purple poison

that attacks my brain

with a paralysis

of frustration,

as the physical reaction

and chemistry fails,

and simply..... fizzles away.

And here I will remain,

as the climate change sceptics

refuse to accept global warming,

and my resolve

to shake the earth

with loves eruption

is melted to ice

by such insidious radiation.

And yes, I know,

I am diseased.

when that purple passion is unrequited---there is no way to let go of the combustion...

love the metaphors in this.
our own global warming within the heart...but the other denies it, or just doesn't notice the same thing we do.
