![]() Come What MayA Poem by John Alexander McFadyen![]() Post election morning dawns.![]() Come
What May Candidates rushed around in a frenzy, trying to garner support for a colour, a sound-bite, a lie, a threat, a carrot on a stick. She, stooped, but unbowed, takes the stage. True blue fighting talk. Schoolmarm charm, command and demand in a steady, convincing voice of reason. Sober suits but with a tired smile as the fight gets tough. A gamble taken when the odds were favourable begins to crumble as the chips go down upon the electoral table. Democracy takes it's toll as the vixen's vision recedes on a June dawn as unsettled as the political climate. Not simply a hung parliament, but drawn and quartered too! Butchered by the turmoil of ignorant people divided and confused by complexity and complicit, vested interests. So we all simply smile wryly and struggle on as powerless and perplexed as before.
