Woman

A dark response to Kelly's beautiful love poem of the same name to illustrate the juxtaposition some face.

Woman

I am man.

I look upon you,

woman,

as inferior,

as a possession.

A birthright.

Something I can take

whenever I choose.

Something I own,

someone there at my

beck and call,

and I really expect

to be served well.

So be warned!

Alpha male me,

red meat, bloody

and rare.

And my meal had best be on the table

when I get home.

Sex on demand

when I stagger back

along the lane,

whiskey'd and all beery

breathed after watching

my team lose to United

at the local,

where I touch-up the barmaids.

You don't know how lucky

you are!

You really don't.

Just lived in a rough part of Glasgow, worked in a field where poverty etc played a role and have worked with people abused. The ferocity is in presentation dear Kelly not in intent nor belief. I was going to write a romantic repost from a man's stand point but then thought about the many people who live in loveless relationships. Many thanks Kelly.

Yes they do exist and women suffer their presence here on earth. In some cases it is cultural and many Eastern Europeans seem to have little respect for women as do some muslims.
