Woman

Woman

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

A dark response to Kelly's beautiful love poem of the same name to illustrate the juxtaposition some face.

"

Woman

I am man.

I look upon you,

woman,

as inferior,

as a possession.

A birthright.

Something I can take

whenever I choose.

Something I own,

someone there at my

beck and call,

and I really expect

to be served well.

So be warned!

Alpha male me,

red meat, bloody

and rare.

And my meal had best be on the table

when I get home.

Sex on demand

when I stagger back

along the lane,

whiskey'd and all beery

breathed after watching

my team lose to United

at the local,

where I touch-up the barmaids.

You don't know how lucky

you are!

You really don't.

Thank you ER and I am glad that is not me!
Very powerful and very impressive, I could feel the anger and rage underneath it all, and this is something that exists within many cultures around the world.

Too much and certain cultures predominate. Many thanks Maria.

Sure thing. And very true. Your welcome.
I can hear this being played out in the minds of all those alpha males out there. In the heat of an argument, in their drunken state, I'm sure lines of this leak out when they express themselves. Much to the unhappiness of their woman.

Indeed and there is much silent suffering. Many thanks Relic.
Obviously, sarcasm.
Sadly--at least, by today's standards--this is the man I was for many years.
Now, I'm worse.
Meaningful read, John.

Ah Jimmy your confession and absolution are assured! Cheers.
very blunt, so striking. would be interesting to have some kind of self reflection for the man, make you somehow sympathize or see how someone might think this way.

I knew you would write something in response - I just knew it!! That's exactly why I didn't challenge you to do so. How cool to know we are on the same wave length!!

My, my, can you be fierce, my friend!

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
