Acquiescence.

Tolerance, Caring, Cuddles and Cats

What else is there,

when longing has slipped

away beyond the sun?

When the intensity

of wanting

no longer pulls you

from your slumber

and thrusts you

into unbridled passion?

Is hope still alive?

or cut dead

below the neck

as the slashing of desire

leaves a mere empty vessel

to accept the juices

that still flow.

What do the stars conceive

and the dawns deliver,

as life still stirs

inside the beast?

This poem is really deep. It refers to the emotions stated in the title (and cats) without actually mentioning them. The poetry is strong in this one!

That is very kind, thank you!
"When the intensity
of wanting
no longer pulls you
from your slumber
and thrusts you
into unbridled passion?"

I love this one. This line gives me more imagery than the others. Got to love cats for sure! :)

What else is there? You make us face the inevitable. I'd like to think that love will always be the dominant force in my life...followed by passion and happiness. ...and a couple of cats!

I wish for you the same, John!

Many. many thanks Kelly. I have the cat.
You have quite simply written my life, It is hauntingly weird to relate to a piece from a mere stranger.

In my opinion confusion happens nothing but hollow confusion there is no better cure for such a man than time and limited optimism, After all we are human we don't know how to sit still or listen to commands like dogs, we are beings of will, such a being's wakes late but better late than never. I see no pleasure in seeing such a person in the eye to advise him, 'you only live once.' No one should because he knows. I once scribbled down during a casual pondering session, "Life for the sake of dying crucifies the potential of living." I don't know if my scrible means anything to you or answers your curiosity, but this was all I needed that day.

Your poem was beautiful enough to make me think deep.
Thank you for sharing.

I like the phrase you thought of when pondering. It is good to be a thinker, but not to be consumed .. read more

No problem, It is a pleasure to read you.
You asked some good questions in the poetry.
"What do the stars conceive
and the dawns deliver,
as life still stirs
inside the beast?"
The above lines. So good. Open a wide door of thoughts for the reader. I believe when love is fading. Need great concern and action ASAP. Thank you John for sharing the amazing poetry.

I enjoyed your work and you are welcome John.
Such a poignant gem....when there is no more longing, no more passion, what are we left with? Desire drives a person....whether it be sexual or otherwise. We all need to WANT....no matter what that want is. Very well written. Lydi**
