It Is Possible

It Is Possible

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

It Is Possible

It is possible to love with fervour

and yet be uncertain in the night,

as the dark cloak of doubt

closes in and shrouds the light.

It is there in that unholy sanctuary,

that the soul cries out for calm

as it recalls just anointment

by Catholic holy balm.

But original sin has ferocious claws

that dig into the thickest skin,

talons of sharpest guilt

that reflect each morsel of our every sin.

And the deception of smoke and mirrors,

created by earth bound man,

fog even the clearest saintly eyes,

simply because religion can.

Only in the fables of fairytales with happy ever after endings, only if her name is Cinderella or if your hungry Little red riding hood, she must be all grown up by now!!. Nice write John. How are you doing?

Doubts do create some strange thoughts. Generally no reason for doubt other than an overactive mine. Been There, don that. Great imagery within your work.

yes, maybe Adam and Eve are to blame for any anxiety or guilt we feel when it comes to physical connections...we should love our bodies and others' bodies...and take advantage of the passionate moments without feeling that pang of regret afterwards...

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
