Shooting His Mouth Off

Shooting His Mouth Off

Shooting His Mouth Off

Barack Obama has stated

that Charleston does not

constitute the 'New Normal'.

But what is normal?

11,000 Americans killed

by guns in 2013?

Only days ago

nine African Americans were shot dead

inside Emanuel African Episcopal Methodist Church

by a deranged young man.

And yet the NRA

refuse to discuss the issue

so close to the massacre.

Dylann Roof is not the only proof

of the profanity

of such a stance.

Fort Hood, Texas,

Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson, Arizona,

moviegoers in Aurora, Colorado,

worshippers at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin,

first-graders in Newtown, Connecticut,

and people at a Washington DC naval base.

The President came out strong

he stated that:

"You don’t see this kind of murder,

on this scale,

with this kind of frequency

in other advanced countries on earth.”

Who will be the next target?

so sorry to disagree sir! with all respect .. but what safeguard is not in place already .. another law, another restriction .. (be true now) .. just who does it affect .. and more deeply .. where is the outrage and regard for lives lost (lets say in Chicago, lets say Detroit, ad infinitum ..) deaths to young black men from illegally held guns ..by .... other black men .. these deaths far outreach those nine innocents .. and takes my breath away ... each can only be considered equal .. our gun laws are more than enough ... it is criminal ... illegal ... possession and use that undermines our neighborhoods ... love and respect

there is no normal anymore...just chaos...it is a desperate society with too much random, senseless violence....are we the land of the free?

i think the Eagle has landed...but in quicksand.

While I may applaud the words that say we need change, some change is harder than others. We talk of reducing the violence in our streets by reducing guns, and yet we have people among us now who build bombs to do even more destruction. When you see all the death around the world this deranged person is only the tip of the iceberg for the changes needed, in not just society, but the world in general. The end of gun violence will not end until we can make the entire world a more peaceful place and accept each other for our differences like religion, culture, skin color and nationality. This is far more than a single issue. Thank you John for apparently a very thought provoking write. Beautifully done.
