Icarus Love

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

No jibes about melted wax please!

Icarus Love

For you I would ride

across the sky to the sun

and bring you the moon.

Key word - would! Sadly, Icarus wouldn't be able to make it to the moon while flying up the sunny sky! But nevertheless, for the sake of this poem, let's imagine it a possibility. How wonderful, such devotion for a beloved, with such an extent of wanting to do everything possible for them so they would feel happy and cared for.

If this isn't some Scottish pick up line well nail me to the cross and call me Jesus! I just wanna know if it works cos it has the lines the words that would impress a wee young lassie up to 36 yrs old and after that you are lying lol.

haha the amount of alcohol will determine which cheeks I get slapped on lmao
To want to give all that pleases (especially the impossible) is a great part of being in love John. To get burned and keep trying is another.
Good job!

Exactly right Anto.Many thanks.
I adore Greek mythology, ever so brilliantly construed into a senryu! If only the moon was ours to give. Even the thought of it is poetic.

Tis true Kelly. The thought of gifting the moon is bliss. Many thanks.
Nice John. I had a flash of the old movie "It's a wonderful Life", when Jimmy Steward says, "I will lasso the moon for you". Great piece of work.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
