Tragic Recall

Tragic Recall

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Some things are not so easy to forget.

"

Tragic Recall

I keep burying you;

pushing you deep into

the depth of my subconscious

self.

But time and time again

you keep clawing

your way back thorough

the black soil

of my troubled memories,

to walk once more

across my earth.

A spectre to haunt me

and remind me

that love can be so beautiful

and yet so cruel.

I have felt this way too often to count. And I feel your pain. Love can be an exquisite and painful woe.

Indeed it can; And I am sorry you have felt its harsher side too Nadia.

That is ok, because it gives us growth, does it not?

Yes but better to grow in love Nadia.
Oh wow I love his. The imagery of how it creeps back clawing its way is very powerful ! Those memories really do have a way of haunting us!

Powerful and true words in this poem.
"A spectre to haunt me

and yet so cruel."
Above lines could stand alone and true wisdom and lesson learn. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome.
It's all a part of the chance we take when we fall, isn' t it? You wouldn't have done anything differently, if given the chance, would you?

It's tragic, indeed, if you allow her memory to continue to haunt you.

I agree and thank you Kelly. In this case it was so inexplicable and that is what haunts me.
I really like this one, John. A familiar feeling expressed with precision in style. It reads very 'Gothic', which is incredibly suitable given the angst of the genre.

Indeed Gothic Tom, many thanks.
I like the play on words of the title of the movie 'Total Recall' (I may be way off on that assumption though). Tragic Recall is a class title anyway John.

Love the line 'black soil of my ...memories'

I like the epiphanous, bittersweet ending too. Well composed my friend.

dark but powerful! ... indeed there are always those things, people, events that have pierced our soul so deep, it is impossible not to feel the aftermath..

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
