AbandonmentA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenIsolatedAbandonment Who am I now my children have forsaken me for a mother who abandoned them to my charge? A woman who chose a life full of exotic and exciting things and luxury, while condemning me to the servitude of parenthood. But forsaken me you have and now I rely upon phantoms and ghouls and dance with them. For I would sooner dance than melt into this earth mere ash returning to its roots. I would sooner cavort with the devil than resign my battered and weary spirit, would rather run Satan's fiery marathon, than fall into the hollow pit of pity where you see me buried before my death.
