Choices

Choices

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

We choose the path.

"

Choices

We either explore our chances

or stay hidden in our beds,

covers drawn over our heads

as we hibernate against the bitter

winds of life.

We either wander the earth

or remain rooted

to the spot,

fearful that the wolves will

tear the flesh from

our sorry bones.

We either explore the arms of love

or stay ‘safe’

within our own empty wilderness,

where past hurt

transfixes us to a soulless

future.

Those are our choices

and no one else

is to blame.

As long as there is life, there are choices. Choices that shape our lives. Much appreciated and enjoyed.

You are welcome John...It thought it was you :)
Missed you too. I'll be in touch now.
Very energetic write!
This reminds of an old say which indicates that we are not trees and if we don't like something we should move forward and change it...
This write is very inspirational and motivating and I like it
Well done

Absolutely. Those of us who have been hurt can sometimes make the safe choice in fear of getting hurt again, condemning ourselves to a life with less.

You read me again in both senses. Thank you.
Indeed, when we make choices, we are the ones who must shoulder the responsibility. Being stuck in the same old, same old is no way to truly live, is it? We must learn to jump...the safety net will appear. Well written. Lydi**

Thank you Lydi!
You can say that again. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I really liked this one John. Its message is something many should hear. Fear of the unknown locks many in place, stuck in the same old, same old, and for some that is okay...it's what they are comfortable with but...it's out there...I know it is and you just have to go for it.

Thank you Will.
if we havet he guts to move forward, the wolves will run along beside us...they won't attack...

life is like that....menacing but more docile than we think....but sometimes we are too afraid to extend that hand and find out.

This really makes me think of the choice I have made so far and to hope that my path continues on to much, much more.. I always judge a poem's content by what it makes me think of, and it definitely made me think :)
