Tell Me

Tell me

you do not desire

to be unshackled

from the rusty chains

of that psychological prison

in which you reside.

Tell me you did not

kiss me once

with feeling,

that stirred our souls

and gave us both hope

of finding true warmth.

Tell me you don’t desire me

and that I don’t desire you

and I will walk away.

Beautiful poem, John. Sometimes simple is most effective. My only suggestion would be to break up the last few lines to match the format of the beginning.

I get your suggestion but purposely chose the format change to emphasise the frustration he feels. T.. read more
Ah questions... they often cause us to feel so many things when In love it's so difficult to discern someone else's emotions when you have so many of your own to figure out sadly there never seems to be enough of the answers that we are looking for that's why most often it never lasts because people just stop being honest with themselves about what they are feeling .... they stop being true to Love instead it's just a game to them playing on your emotions and what you are feeling pretending to feel the same way never showing that they are afraid to commit nothing but disaster comes of it only very seldom does Love last there is so much that I could say but instead I'll say .... Thanks for sharing this beautiful poem of truth!

I took a nice journey with your writing . .... :,)

Thank you dear Poppy.
look me in the eye and tell me you don't love me---tell me you don't feel what I feel...

I like this one a lot...

what's in the heart really cannot be denied...

As always Jacob we understand one another. Thank you.
Damn John, this one really dug deep into me. The emotions in your poem are screaming..."Read me, hear me, answer me!!!" This was powerful. You rocked this page, that's for sure.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
