TributeA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenThink Freedom, think peace!Tribute What is wrong with free-thinking if it releases the chains of slavery woven in unseen shackles by those who would control us? Democracy, we are told, is ours and yet we are but the servants of those who hold the power. The politicians with ‘red brick’ shadows on their tail coats, the wealthy who yearn to see their fortunes swell, the men of faith who use fear to control souls and to wage war upon this earth. Are we so meek and naïve as to be so duped and used by such as these? Why yes for we are as sheep! Most of us would chose a secular society but are too lazy, uninspired weak and trusting to fight the system and leave our mark for the good of all. Thank heavens for men like Voltaire, Maharaja Ranjeet Singh, Ghandi, Denis Diderot, Baruch Spinoza, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine, Charles Bradlaugh, Robert Ingersoll and Bertrand Russell. All men unconstrained by the tactics of the oppressors and their greed. So let me be in their image, let me stand up for humanity but let me have my own voice!
