Think Freedom, think peace!

What is wrong with free-thinking

if it releases the chains of slavery

woven in unseen shackles

by those who would control us?

Democracy, we are told, is ours

and yet we are but the servants

of those who hold the power.

The politicians with ‘red brick’

shadows on their tail coats,

the wealthy who yearn

to see their fortunes swell,

the men of faith who use

fear to control souls and

to wage war upon this earth.

Are we so meek and naïve

as to be so duped and used

by such as these?

Why yes for we are as sheep!

Most of us would chose

a secular society

but are too lazy, uninspired

weak and trusting

to fight the system

and leave our mark

for the good of all.

Thank heavens for men like Voltaire,

Maharaja Ranjeet Singh, Ghandi,

Denis Diderot, Baruch Spinoza,

James Madison, Thomas Jefferson,

Thomas Paine, Charles Bradlaugh,

Robert Ingersoll and Bertrand Russell.

All men unconstrained by

the tactics of the oppressors

and their greed.

So let me be in their image,

let me stand up for humanity

but let me have my own voice!

It is tempting to believe that a great man will come along and lead us to a better world but the battle for good and evil lies in in every man. A victory is felt every time a soul moves beyond the ego, the conditioning of the mind. In other words freedom is found within first and then it cannot be denied. I go on … this was a terrific write.

I have more Buddhist leaning these days … when you see all as one there can be no parties.

No lots of those kind of parties.
Thanks 'M' I have just joined a freethinker's group and just reading up on it is inspiring.

What a beautiful write on humanity, democracy, peace and freedom.

You certainly have your own voice here John. Freedom is pretty much an illusion, we're all slaves to some kind of imprisonment in our own minds....albeit, I love where you took this one.

Truth does not have to piss you off my Lady! But thank you.
