Comes Winter

Comes Winter

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Into frost I must slip.....................................

"

Comes Winter

The twinkle is deceit!

As the cold,

harsh north wind does compete

for the attention of the nymphs

who adorn this earth

and value the worth

of the warmth of hearts

of those who worship the sun.

And when it is done

and the only hope left

is the carving of skin

just let me slip away.

The shedding of one season to another, the metaphor here, brilliant, as ever, I felt this deeply xo

it is always a pleasure.. I can understand and relate.. :)
John is a poet I like and admire, this reflects the tough Scottish climate, like especially the skin line, the last quatrain has a Heaneyesque feeling, well done !

Thank you Kelly you are kind.
Remarkably sad but very beautiful John, seems to express deep sorrow especially at the very end, almost like dying, well written John :)

Well, ya, I am not a big fan of that either :)
You need to take your cranky pants off now John....poignant way of penning that angst. I love it but I don't want to. ;)

OMG....it'll spin off its axis. haha
Brutally sad emotions throughout this one. Winter.....connotations of it are dark most times it seems. Even as the sun shines, we are bitten by the wind. So it is in life....not all that glitters is gold as we know. Powerful poetry. Lydi**

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
