Reborn

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Reborn

I have found a new poet.

He was inside me all theses sad and sorry years,

but afraid.

Afraid to open up his lungs and sing,

to open up his heart and spill tears of words

across the virgin parchment sheets of life;

lest his weakness be exposed by that original sin

staining his once pure soul.

So he was afraid to open up his eyes and face the world

in all its magnificent sharp magnification and blunt and selfish hatred.

To chance the inevitable ridicule of those shallow, little people

who have learned to scoff and demean others

and feed their own conceited confidence tricks

through the put down and the snide remark.

But now I stand foursquare,

my squat pen flowing over velum sheets,

an oak shielding my sight from the harshest glare,

as I breathe easily the fragrances of life

and the piety of living in the glow of your sweet nature.

Wooo John, just wooo. An amazing read and I know from where this one sings, you've always been an amazing poet, but in this one you laid your soul on the line. Bravo my friend.

Thank you my Lady of poetry!
I'm pleased you decided to write. Those who criticize your words probably have no writing ability themselves. Many who pick apart your words are just jealous of your talent. Keep writing....you do have talent and your words are well expressed. Lydi**

Wow...what a declaration in this poem John. Perfect piece to mark your return. Glad to see you back.

Thank you AMS. Poetic licence rather than a true declaration me thinks!
Back with a bang. This is so beautiful, truthful and brave piece. It's a beauty, John.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
