No More Bread

No More Bread

Silence rebounds off these pale walls.

Walls once papered

in the colours of love and hope,

now stripped completely bare.

The furniture has all gone too

as I sit alone

in this sad room and listen

to the pounding, quiet echo

of my shattered heart,

as it resonates off polished wood

and cold stone floors.

It tears at my inner peace

in a savage stabbing of my breast

that splits me open

and allows hope to expire,

like the mirage you painted me.

My ears hear every whisper

of the lone fly’s wings

as it circles the naked bulb

above my thoughts,

and my empty eyes

just wonder why.

You took everything when you left,

when you made your choice

and stepped onto that flight to Athens.

Did you think I’d rejoice?

Did you think I’d understand?

Did you even think at all?

And now there is to be no more bread

my soul is empty.

Really! Thanks Mark
Powerful stuff John!
I can see why love can leave you pensive, heartbroken... to doubt love ever truly existed.

My favorite part:

"It tears at my inner peace

in a savage stabbing of my breast

that splits me open

and allows hope to expire,

like the mirage you painted me."

Heartfelt....painful. x

"My ears hear every whisper of the lone fly’s wings as it circles the naked bulb" My goodness, there is power in this line! You set the desolate lonely scene perfectly. A deeply emotional write. Well written. Lydi**

as we both know Jack. Many thanks.
Amazing the difference a day makes in our lives. Been on those 'bread' lines myself before, I'm sorry you found the need to write this bittersweet piece, you do love & angst with such passion, heartbreaking read my dear friend.

Too close home for me too. Unfortunately, this is an inevitable outcome of love. In retrospect, we do it to some and some do it to us. Thats my take on this sad aspect of life.

Regarding the poetry, your art is enviable. You know how to write sooo beautifully.

John, I know you're really hurting, and I can tell through your writes. You're a strong guy, keep your chin up. Having you heartbroken by someone you loved and cared for deeply is terrible, and this write is deep and powerful. Another painful read.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
