Echoes of Silence

Echoes of Silence

The echoes of your silence

reverberate off empty walls

to deafen my ears

like the oceans roar

or the howling wind.

And like a tsunami

or the vicious spin

of the Midwest tornado

it overwhelms me

and drags me

into its raging swell

till I am washed away,

fractured

and drowned.

Superbly written with great imagery and powerful words - must say though, as an orator, I once again would take out a couple of the "ands"

Your words hit me as the reader as powerfully as the crashing waves you describe, you have communicated and demonstrated this occurrence of sad memories within silence with beauty and accuracy.

A very powerful poem, silence can be the hardest thing to bear, far lonelier than words.

Thank you so much Leslie. Most of it produced from emotion.
Your poem has sucked all the sound out and yet it is deafening. Some days there is nothing as loud as the emptiness of silence.

True IB, true. many thanks
I hate to say, but goodness how I can relate to this poem! Shockingly enough I can say it does get better, but dear God there is no way you can realize that at the time! You've captured the essence as best I think anyone could with words - there really is nothing that matches it when being experienced.
A powerful piece, John. Excellent!

Thank you Raven.
Oh wow! This one just about knocked me off my seat! 0_0 It was so powerful. Sometimes silence speaks louder than words. The metaphors in this write was amazing. This was great, John. Written with pure honesty and the emotions were raw.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
