On Parchment

On Parchment

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

On Parchment

What I pen on parchment

are feelings I have known.

Sometimes the abstract ravings

of a sun stroked mind.

A place where dehydration

sucks the inhibition from

poisonous snake bites,

or the thousand cuts

that bleed red from my heart

drain away all hope.

But in the boudoir

I am yours and

you are mine

and in this delicious knowing

we come together

in sweet and private feasts

where I offer you a menu,

a la carte, if you prefer

and you offer it back to me

with the full flavour of desire.

mmm.. the agony and the ecstasy? The emotional forces that drive our craft are strong ones yes? Always enjoy reading your clear presentation and wonderful imagery.

Many thanks!
A very powerful romantic write, not only of relationships, but of the poets connection to the pen and parchment. Nicely done!

Thank you Sheema
I like that you let her know that what you write has nothing against the relationship you two share at the moment. I think too often writers get a bum-rap about everything we write must be what is happening at the moment and that just isn't so. We have ghosts from our past that haunt us until we tell their stories. This is a beautifully written piece with great images.

Aaahhh...yes, this is the honesty in pure desire. The offering and the acceptance with a little giving in return. I am also reminded of the days of old, when men would write poetry to woo their lady loves...if it were to happen today, I believe many men would be surprised at how much impact a few simple and well wrought lines would have on a woman. Well written.

I suggest that you do...I doubt you would be disappointed. lol
I'm reminded of days long gone when men actually used to write to women as a form of forplay! Not just with the style but through your words. This is a great poem. Provocative, fun, fiesty even, and written with class. Very well done.

Many thank yous Kristin for such a lovely review.
Man John, you know how to create some damn good imagery. The second poem is candy for my brain. Such intimate images. The only criticism I have is in the final line "marvellous, magnificent Michelin stars". Marvellous and magnificent are very similar words phonetically, so perhaps another synonym for either of them would work as well. Excellent work as always!
