A Question of Life

A Question of Life

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

A Question of Life

What hath the moon

if not shadows?

What hath my heart

if not pain?

And if I cannot be true

to myself

I live a life of lies

with rocks in my heart

and lead in my soul.

And if I should learn to live,

master that skill,

begrudging not my failings,

then should not I learn to die

and fall upon that sword of fate

that is the poisoned fruit

 of all my shattered dreams?

The choice is made very clear here. Live for yourself or be soul-dead and live a lie.

However, the thoughts are tinged with guilt and indecision over the choice they wish to make...

"begrudge not my failings,
then should I learn to die
and fall upon that sword"

Very well said John.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
