A Question of Life

A Question of Life

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

A Question of Life

What hath the moon

if not shadows?

What hath my heart

if not pain?

And if I cannot be true

to myself

I live a life of lies

with rocks in my heart

and lead in my soul.

And if I should learn to live,

master that skill,

begrudging not my failings,

then should not I learn to die

and fall upon that sword of fate

that is the poisoned fruit

 of all my shattered dreams?

Thank you again Sheema. Your observations are quite acute, maybe dying inside?
Another skillful & artistic read from you, fruit of the poisonous tree could be anything I presume, lust, drugs...love even.

I guess it's different for everyone...
What is this poison fruit you speak of? I'm amazed by how many poems you're able to push out on a daily basis. For the most part they're really good, but there's those that I choose not to comment on.

More like a frankfurter, skinny and soft and overcooked, oh and tastless! lol
The heart should be filled with love but it's almost always full with pain, no space for a little love. True words you've written.

Thank you Junert
Like this, especially the classical fall upon that sword image in the last lines, and the way
this starts with questions - a good job done here..

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
